Integral Waterproofing Admixture

Integral waterproofing admixture is a specially formulated compound (liquid or powder) that is dosed into concrete, mortar, or plaster at the time of mixing to block or line capillary pores and reduce water absorption through the entire section. Depending on chemistry, it can act by hydrophobic pore-lining, densification, or crystalline growth, thereby improving impermeability, durability, and resistance to dampness without relying only on external coatings or membranes. These admixtures are commonly used in foundations, basements, water tanks, roof slabs, bathrooms, and plastered surfaces as a preventive waterproofing measure during construction, often conforming to IS 2645 requirements for integral waterproofing compounds.
